On March 30th 2000 the official information arrived from the head office of Guinness world record that Istria has the biggest truffle in the world.
Mr. Giancarlo Zigante found it with the help of his dog Diana near the village Livade on November 2nd 1999. This white truffle weighed exactly 1,310 kg.
Zigante family decided not to sell this truffle, which was named Millennium, but to prepare a dinner for 100 guests with the Millennium as a main dish, with a goal to promote truffles and Istrian region. To convince all future guests of the size of the big white truffle, Mr. Zigante has got the trustworthy copy cast in bronze.
